Corpus Christi came first, founded by Casimir the Great around 1340 as the parish church of his new town. Lateran Canons Regular have kept it since 1405, and inside, against a pillar, stands a late-Baroque pulpit carved as a boat complete with oars and a net. St Catherine's followed from 1342, built for Augustinians the king brought from Prague. It is one of the finest Gothic interiors in Poland, and its cloister still carries Gothic and Renaissance frescoes.
Skalka closes the Kazimierz half, and it is the oldest story of the three. This is where Bishop Stanislaus was killed in 1079 after his conflict with the king. Paulines have held the site since 1472, the present Baroque church was built between 1733 and 1751, and the crypt beneath it was turned into a national pantheon in the 1870s. Wyspianski, Szymanowski, Kraszewski and Milosz are buried there.

About the tour
Krakow Memory Trail Electric Cart Tour
The Memory Trail runs through the Catholic half of Kazimierz and then the wartime Ghetto. Casimir the Great chartered Kazimierz as a town in its own right on 27 February 1335, and for the next four and a half centuries it stayed separate from Krakow. The western half was the Catholic town, and it is still marked by three churches: Corpus Christi, St Catherine's and Skalka. The cart stops at each one and the guide tells its story on the spot.
Then the route crosses the Vistula into Podgorze, where the German occupiers sealed the Ghetto in March 1941. You pass the surviving wall on Lwowska and Limanowskiego, deliberately shaped like Jewish tombstones, stop at Ghetto Heroes Square with its seventy empty chairs, see the Eagle Pharmacy where Tadeusz Pankiewicz stayed and helped, and finish at Schindler's Factory.
The second half of the ride belongs to a different century. Podgorze was chosen for the Ghetto because the river made it easy to cut off: more than fifteen thousand people were confined to a district built for around three thousand. The commentary grows quieter, the stops become moments of stillness rather than photo calls, and the route ends at Schindler's Factory, the one place from that district most visitors already know.

We were looking for something to do during a company team trip for more than a dozen people and found YourKrakow. Does this route go through the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz?
No. This route covers the Catholic half of Kazimierz and its churches, then the wartime Ghetto in Podgorze. The synagogues and Szeroka Street are a separate route, our Kazimierz Jewish Quarter tour. The two halves of Kazimierz are genuinely different chapters: the Catholic town dates from 1335, and the Jewish quarter was formed in the eastern part in 1495.
Which churches does the tour stop at?
Corpus Christi, St Catherine's and Skalka. The cart stops at each one and the guide tells its story there, so you get the history on the spot rather than a name in passing.
Do we go inside the churches?
The stops are outside. Opening hours and services change through the week, so we tell the story from the square or the street and you keep the full hour of riding. The guide will tell you which ones are open if you want to return on foot afterwards.
How is this different from the Ghetto route?
The Ghetto route covers Podgorze in 30 minutes. The Memory Trail takes 60 and adds the Catholic half of Kazimierz first, so you get the highlights of two of our routes in a single ride: the medieval town on one bank, the wartime district on the other, told as one story instead of two separate bookings.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes. The churches are easy to talk about at any age, and the guide adapts how much of the wartime history to tell depending on who is in the cart.
Do you run it all year?

Why is the Memory Trail longer than the other routes?
